Carlotta's WordPress Credits Journey

Hi everybody! I’m Carlotta Perini and I’m ready to share my final report for my WP. This report summarizes my contributions to the Polyglots Team, focusing on improving language acceptability in Italian.
I started by reading the https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/handbook/ (Translator’s Hanbook) and focusing on the tutorials and suggestions provided by WordPress.
The main challenge I had, apart from time management, was building my website, but my mentor Krupa guided me through the process, helping me build my website correctly.
Another challenge I faced at the beginning was understanding the process of translation, in terms of what to do after having translated some strings, but then I contacted the #polyglots Italian chat on Slack and they helped me solving this issue. Also, Francesco helped me through the process and reviewed some of my translations.

The WordPress credits program taught me the power of collaboration, it helped me improve my translating skills in a whole different context from the one I’m used to in university.

Through this experienced I have gained:

+ Technical skills: how to translate strings on WordPress, create websites, Use of translation platforms;

+ Soft skills: time management, attention to details, translating and communicative skills.

Contributing to WordPress as part of the Polyglots team has been a valuable and enriching experience. I did not expect such an open and supportive environment, especially for those new to the project! But it quickly became clear how collaborative the community is. I am always open to connecting with others involved in WordPress contributions, and I look forward into any exchange of experiences or insights.
